Description:Job Summary The Shipping/Receiving Inspector's job is to ensure the safe and accurate handling of goods during transport, verifying the condition, quantity, and documentation of shipments. They also verify compliance with regulations, ensuring goods are properly secured and prepared for shipping. The Shipping/Receiving Inspector is responsible for both incoming and outgoing inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Inspection:Inspecting production parts for damage, wear, defects, or other issues, ensuring they meet quality standards. - Documentation:Verifying the accuracy of shipping documents, such as Production Orders and Customer Purchase Orders, against the actual ready-to-ship shipments. - Compliance:Ensuring that production parts and their packaging meet safety regulations and standards as well as shipping requirements. - Measurement:Validating the dimensions and quantity of production parts and skids to ensure the correct qtys are defined and met prior to transport. - Communication:Communicating with various stakeholders, including shipping, production, and quality assurance, to resolve and potential issues and ensure smooth transport. - Reporting:Preparing reports on inspections, findings, and any corrective actions taken. - Problem-solving:Investigating discrepancies or issues with shipments and working to resolve them. - Packing and Shipping:Assisting with preparing materials and products for shipping, including skidding and packing materials to ensure customer compliance. - Inventory Management:Maintaining accurate records of quality approved outgoing shipments.
Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, and specifications.
  • Basic math skills for calculations related to weight, volume, and dimensions.
  • Knowledgeable about current quality system standards such as ISO 9001 helpful.
  • Maintains composure under pressure. Ability to multi-task in response to numerous demands.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel and Word required.
  • Ability to learn and adapt any new company computer software programs for the Dimar Business system.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is helpful.Experience and Education:
    • High School Diploma required.
    • Associates degree preferred.
    • 3 + years' experience required.
      Special Requirements
      • Machine shopwork environment; dust is common.
      • Requires the use of the following personal protective equipment:
