Subdivision Health ServicesDivision Student Development & EngagemtDepartment Counseling OfficeLocation Erie, PaPosition SummaryPOSITION SUMMARY: Gannon University, a Catholic university, invites applications for a full-time, 12 month Staff Therapist position in the Counseling Center within the division of Student Experience and the subdivision of Student Development and Engagement. This therapist will operate as a generalist, providing a full range of clinical services to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students, including: triage, intake assessment, and referral; individual and group counseling; crisis intervention; outreach programming; and consultation. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience and expertise providing services for marginalized populations such as LGBTQ+ and BIPOC students.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Provides culturally-informed direct clinical services, such as individual and group counseling, to students experiencing mental health concerns within a brief treatment model, both in-person and via telehealth.2. Conducts triage/ intake assessments and assists with treatment planning, referral, and case management.3. Provides daytime crisis intervention services and some after-hours services.4. Maintains clinical records utilizing the center's EMR in accordance with legal statutes and ethical codes in a timely manner.5. Consults with family members, faculty, staff, and administrators regarding student mental health concerns.6. Develops and provides psychoeducational outreach programming and/ or training to members of the Gannon community.7. Serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary team (RN's, CRNP, psychiatrist, psychologist, staff therapists) in the Health & Counseling Services Offices.8. Participates in staff meetings, clinical supervision, and case consultations.9. Assists with case management activities related to the Counseling Center's membership on Gannon's Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).10. Develops and maintains cooperative relations with community mental health providers and referral sources.11. Assists with the advising of Gannon's chapter of the student organization, Active Minds.12. Assists with plans and preparations for special events sponsored by the Counseling Center.13. Collaborates and cooperates across divisions and departments to help facilitate student well-being at the university.14. Actively participates in university special events and initiatives such as Open Houses, Summer Orientations, Commencement, Welcome Week, etc.15. Serves on university committees.16. Performs other duties related as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job.Required QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:Education: Masters in Counseling, Social Work, or related degree is required.Experience: 3-5 years clinical experience in outpatient mental health, preferably in the college setting, is required. Clinical experience with adolescents/ adults from diverse backgrounds is required.The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and characteristics:--- Significant clinical experience working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations (BIPOC, GLBTQ+, international, first generation)--- Demonstrated commitment, skills, and experience in equity and inclusion programming--- Expertise in risk assessment and managing mental health crises--- Knowledge of and commitment to best practices and evidence-based research to ensure high quality care for culturally diverse individuals and groups--- Knowledge of and experience with best practices in the field of college mental health and higher education as well as knowledge of student development theory and application--- Experience with and dedication to working as a collaborative member of a clinical team--- Demonstrated ability to be highly flexible and to modify work and treatment approach to meet the changing needs of a student population--- Commitment to a trauma-informed and strength-based approach to counseling--- Knowledge of and commitment to ACA or NASW Code of Ethics, PA licensure laws, and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA) pertaining to health care organizations and higher educationLicenses or Certifications: LPC or LCSW is required (must possess a current/active license in PA or a current/active license in another state and agree to complete requirements of PA licensure within 90 days of hire)University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.Preferred QualificationsPhysical DemandsMust be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy office and University environmentExempt Status ExemptPosition Classification ProfessionalPosition Type StaffEmployment Status Full-TimePosition Length 12MHours per Week 40Work Schedule 8:30 am to 5:00 pmShift 1st
