Personal Care AidePosition SummaryResponsible for resident services and other duties as assigned. Duties include personal services, housekeeping, laundry, social-recreational activities, medication assistance, meal service and other delegated tasks as needed for resident well-being.This hourly, non-exempt position reports directly to the Personal Care Administrator and is a member of the Personal Care Department.General PurposeTo provide assistance to the residents according to State and Federal Guidelines.Role QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Position ResponsibilitiesProvides resident services as indicated on the resident's assessment and service plan.Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for the residents.Participates in dining services by serving meals and by setting up and cleaning up the dining room before and after meals.Provides laundry service including washing, drying, sorting, and putting away resident's laundry.Reads the staff communication sheet and Administrator communication sheet every shift and notes any changes in resident condition.Observes changes in resident status, needs or preferences and communicates and documents them timely and appropriately.Reviews daily assignments and completes task sheets every shift.Receives and gives report from the previous shift.Performs housekeeping duties as needed.Observes problems, concerns, or issues observed with resident apartments, the building and the grounds and communicates the appropriately.Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control policy.Attends meetings.Participates in resident move-in and move-out process.Keeps resident information confidential.Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately.Interacts in professional manner with residents, the public, and co-workers.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESN/APlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Essential Knowledge, Skills and AbilityEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Certification: Medication trained/certified.Experience: Work Experience - I year working experience working with older adults.KNOWLEDGECustomer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)Position Hours and TravelThis position is a full-time/part-time job located in a designated home with travel as required or directed. Average travel expectation is less than 2%. Hours in addition to regular work scheduled may be necessary, with little or no notice, if deemed necessary.Compliance Program The Grove Manor Corporation is committed to compliance with program requirements and ensuring that employees understand the value the Facility places on its compliance program. The employee must be able to lift, push, and/or move up to 75 pounds, with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, employees must have the ability to hear and respond, distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, blood and body fluid, diseases, and conditions prevalent at the time. Employees may also be subject to emotionally distraught residents, family members, visitors, and personnel. The noise level in the work environment is typically minimal to moderate.PPE: Personal protective equipment will be provided, used, and maintained when it has been determined that its use is required to ensure the safety and health of our employees and that such use will lessen the likelihood of occupational injury and/or illness.Affected employees whose jobs require the use of PPE will be informed of the PPE selection and will be provided PPE by Grove Manor Corporation at no charge. Careful consideration will be given to the comfort and proper fit of PPE in order to ensure that the right size is selected and that it will be used. Personal protective equipment must not be shared between employees until it has been properly cleaned and sanitized. PPE will be distributed for individual use whenever possible. Any worker required to wear PPE will receive training in the proper use and care of PPE before being allowed to perform work requiring the use of PPE.
