Registered Dietitian

Distinguishing features of this position:

Clarion University/Northwest Alliance is looking for a registered dietitian for our ERIE office to provide our clients with comprehensive advice on matters of well-being. As an expert in food and nutrition, patients/clients will depend on you to guide them towards better eating habits to better managing their -HIV -and to prevent further illness.

The dietitian will work under the direction of the Supervisor of Clinical Operations and will be responsible for creating meal plans according to a patient's dietary restrictions and requirements. Their main duties include establishing short and long-term health goals with patients, teaching the public about health and nutrition, and developing effective nutritional and exercise plans for clients. This individual will also be expected to assist patients tailor their nutritional requirements to align with evidence-based nutritional goals developed for individuals living with -HIV/AIDS. Additionally, this individual will play a lead role in helping to establish, operate, and maintain an in-house food bank for Ryan White eligible patients/clients.

Nutritionist duties and responsibilities:
The dietitian will work closely with clients to develop healthy eating habits. These activities will be coordinated with, and supported by, the agency's subcontracted providers, clinical staff, and medical case managers. -Some of their duties and responsibilities include:

* Counsel patients on any dietary issues and healthy eating habits. This includes offering counseling and suggest positive alterations in nutrition to address clients' dietary restrictions.
* Develop nutrition plans while taking into account the client's budget, tastes, and cultural preferences. This entails creating full and personalized nutrition plans that promote healthy lifestyles.
* Evaluating the nutritional needs of a client by assessing their health and exercise levels, sleep, and food habits etc.
* Evaluate if the meal plans have a positive effect on clients' health.
* Create educational material about healthy eating habits, and that helps to clarify and explain the importance of diet and good nutrition on health and well-being.
* Read and implement, were appropriate, the latest nutritional research related to general health, and, as it relates to -HIV/AIDS -health outcomes.
* Speak to designated groups about the importance of nutrition to prevent specific diseases.
* Document patient progress.
* Establish and operate an agency-wide foodbank to include the use of third party "Meal Delivery Plans" through such vendors as "Blue Apron", "Home Chief", "Hello Fresh", etc.

Coordinate and oversee the purchase and issuance of food vouchers in collaboration with patient services staff and medical case managers.

* Proven experience as registered dietitian
* Thorough understanding of biochemistry and human physiology
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Creativity and critical thinking
* BS or BA Degree in nutritional science, dietetics, or relevant field
* Ability to travel (50%)

Preferred Qualifications :

* Prior experience in a Ryan White Part B or Part C program.
* Prior experience establishing or operating a foodbank.
