Job Description:

General LaborerHours of work: 5:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday thru Friday, Saturday 5:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. As NeededPosition Summary: Assists the breaker operator with the process of breaking rail.Essential Job Tasks:

• Pull down rail
• Pull off rail
• Use torch for rail marking
• Oil the skids
• General housekeeping duties around rail yardResponsibilities:
  • Inspects the ends of rail
  • Counts the bundles
  • Hooks up lifts
  • Makes sure lifts are not overloadedMachines/Equipment used for Position:
    • Rail wrench
    • Hook wrench
    • Torches
    • Hand tools
    • OilRequired Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D) preferredRequired Experience: Prior experience with a cutting torch is a plus. Previous operation of heavy equipment is also a plus.Recommended Knowledge/Skills:
      • Basic Math
      • Basic ReadingPhysical Requirements:
        • Ability to Climb on, off and around equipment
        • Ability to Sit, stand, and walk for periods of time
        • Ability to Lift items
        • Various repetitive motionWorking Environment:
          • Working around mechanical parts, and vibrations
          • Working around some fumes, and gases.
          • Working with some fluids and chemicals
