Title: Warehouse Operator

Reports To: Team Leader

Overall Focus: Executes daily and weekly workload plans to accomplish established tasks provided by warehouse Shift Supervisors and or other warehouse management

FLSA Designation: Hourly Non- Exempt

Level: T3

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Executes daily and weekly workload plans to accomplish established tasks provided by warehouse Shift Supervisors and or other warehouse management
  • Maintains constant communication with other warehouse and Shift Supervisors
  • Execute established training plans to make operators multi functional
  • Adhere to required expectations developed by Shift Supervisors
  • Audits the work of those reporting to you for both training and adherence to set standards
  • Ensures products meet specifications prior to permission of shipment to our customers
  • Strive to achieve team productivity measurements while maintaining a high level of focus to quality
  • Keep work zones in an audit ready manner
  • Ability to participate in day to day functions such as operation of forklift and yard jockey
  • Provides feedback to warehouse operators not following Standard Operating Procedures, or Safety and Sanitization practices and policies.

  • Represents Smucker to our customers and vendors
  • Ensures that the Smucker Food Safety program is adhered to
  • Trains all employees in established SOP's
  • Ensures that all SOP's are being followed

  • All Staff shall be informed of their responsibility to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Serves as the designee of the Warehouse Shift Supervisor in dealing with reported food safety issues or maintenance of the SQF system.
  • Alerts Warehouse Manager for need to update or modify SOP's based on needed changes to the processes
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and job instructions
  • Take corrective actions when measures are out of specification
  • Take and document required process, quality measures
  • Meet or exceed established targets

  • Adhere to all Sanitization procedures
  • Follow all GMP's
  • Keep process areas clean and neat
  • Ensure all buildings meet Sanitization requirements
  • Adheres to Sanitization procedures for warehousing

  • Actively follows the Company Safety Program
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Report all unsafe actions and conditions

QUALIFICATIONS

(Knowledge and skills necessary to meet organizational objectives)

Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED

Certifications/Licenses: Fork lift operator's license - Preferred

  • Operation of a forklift, which requires on and off mounting of the equipment thru out the day and the ability to operate the controls in a fast paced environment
  • Operation of the yard truck. Will be required to be in and out of the truck on each move to open and close the doors of the trailer
  • Know product specifications and packaging
  • Know how to access and read the production schedule
  • Understand the production process flow and how the warehousing processes can impact that flow
  • Knowledge of stack patterns, code dates, customer requirements and loading practices for each customer
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge of products and processes
  • Knowledge of customer requirements, loading practices and procedures, pallet patterns, code dates and rotation policy
  • Knowledge of quality and in specification products and ability to bring in subject matter expert when needed and ability to execute product on hold
  • Ability to access shipping schedule and execute loading of freight and to prioritize workload to accomplish daily throughputs
  • Understand current inventory control system (Navision)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to lead people
  • Excellent communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Climb ladders and bins

Maneuver in tight spaces

Move items of 55-70 lbs. in weight from one place to another

Stack repetitiously 60 lbs. or less

Able to differentiate between colors

Able to work in extreme temperature conditions (very hot or very cold)
