Engineering Technical Leader - Systems Controls - Mining
Primary Location: Erie, Pennsylvania

V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for an Engineering Technical Leader - Systems Controls - Mining for our premier client in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Education and Experience - Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other Engineering discipline.
At least seven (7) years of engineering experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of control experience.
Experience in control implementation and validation.
Minimum five (5) years working knowledge of model based designing tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and/or MatrixX.
Minimum five (5) years experience with control design and controls integration through full-development life-cycle concept to field application.
At least five (5) years hands-on experience with design, implementation and validation of closed loop controls and/or diagnostics.


Desired: Experience with vehicle control and vehicle design.
Experience in surface mining.
Five (5) plus years experience with modeling and analysis of electro-mechanical systems.
Five (5) plus years experience with modeling tools such as Simscape, Amesim, Adams, Easy5.
Five (5) plus years experience with real-time simulation environments such dSpace, Opal-Rt, PLECS.
Successful experience working in multi-location engineering teams involved in design and validation activities.
Successful experience working with global teams.
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Job Responsibilities: Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems with desired behaviors. Includes operability, setting of boundaries, cycle optimization, control logic, control related software, sensors, hardware and software algorithms and feedback to control the performance of devices, subsystems and systems.
Execute creation of necessary system documentation to flow down requirements to detailed component design and software development teams.
Evaluate detailed design for technical merit and adherence to sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product / program requirements.
Lead Mining Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) control system development.
The successful candidate will develop, implement and validate of control systems for electric drive mining vehicles.
These systems will include traction drive systems, auxiliaries and interfaces to other onboard and offboard vehicle systems.
These vehicles typically have a 100-to-440-ton payload capacity.
Support factory build of prototype and standard production systems.
Coordinate sub-system validation and reports for testing performed internally, at 3rd party sites, or on customer site.
