Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Deliver highly skilled nursing care for patients in an intermediate stepdown unit, focusing on cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, and general medical conditions. This evening and night shift role offers the chance to work with a diverse patient population requiring vigilant monitoring and critical care interventions in a 24-bed unit setting. Key Responsibilities: - Perform comprehensive patient assessments, plan and implement individualized care, and routinely evaluate treatment outcomes. - Administer medications safely and manage non-titratable drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and Lasix. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for effective care coordination, acting as a liaison for patient and family communication. - Maintain patient safety and advocate for patient rights, particularly in critical situations involving multi-system organ failure or trauma. - Provide education and support to patients and families adjusting to acute illness and treatment plans. - Manage stable ventilators, tracheostomies, and advanced respiratory devices including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy. - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold nursing practice standards consistent with professional models. Desired Qualifications: - Current RN license, with compact state eligibility preferred. - Minimum of 1 year as a Registered Nurse; acute care experience strongly preferred. - Dysrhythmia Exam certification required (study guide provided). - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred upon hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), CCRN, PCCN, and NIH Stroke Certification are advantageous. - Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records helpful. - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Schedule: - 12-hour night shifts. - Every other weekend and holiday coverage. - Contracts available for 8, 13, or 16 weeks.
