Subdivision Inst.Research,Assmt.&AnalyticsDivision Planning and StrategyDepartment Inst.Research,Assmt&AnalytcLocation Erie, PaPosition SummaryThis position is a high-level contributor to primary research, evaluation, assessment, reporting, and analytics to support institutional decision-making, planning, and continuous improvement at the University. Has primary responsibility for tracking data coding changes in Colleague, determining data coding errors, automating data extraction, and reporting, and providing high-level analytics to advance the mission of the Institutional Research, Assessment, and Analytics Office. This includes the maintenance of an analytical database and the ability to conduct primary research where the results support information requirements for both academic and administrative uses, academic program accreditation, student success, strategic planning, MSCHE accreditation standards, and ultimately transforming these data into actionable goals and objectives. The position also supports faculty and administrators by integrating data from multiple internal and external sources to uncover and report data on academic performance, student success, institutional priorities, and strategic plan initiatives. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Contributes to the creation, submission, updating, and/or supervising the completion of standard institutional reporting documents, such as IPEDS, Common Data Set, etc.2. Develops, as prioritized by the Director, systematic approaches to measure effectiveness and convey information to steward institutional vitality.3. Researches, creates and implements technological processes (e.g., Informer Reports, Dashboards, etc.) that will streamline and automate the extraction of data from the various data sources (e.g., Colleague, Self-Service, etc.) to incrementally transition the common data requests to always-available Informer reports or Dashboards. Will learn new skills, as required, to achieve this function.4. Collaborates with the Director of IR A & A, ITS, and other stakeholders to develop and implement a plan for digital transformation of Gannon University including aspects like the design of the analytics data repository, stewardship of the selected analytics platform, integration assessments, stakeholder training, data integrity audits, etc.5. Works closely with the Director and administrative offices (e.g., Registrar, Financial Aid, etc.) to identify data discrepancies and data quality issues in real-time before such errors affect reporting to ensure consistency and integrity of institutional data.6. Conducts descriptive and inferential analyses of University data. Works closely with the Director to provide verbal and written reports to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding using graphic and tabular formats that aid in the understanding of presented information and offers data-driven and science-based recommendations to enact change.7. Works closely with the Director, Chief Institutional Planning Officer and, as needed, other administrative personnel to measure and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the Strategic Plan and additional mission-critical goals and objectives (e.g., increasing retention, graduation, etc.).8. Serves on committees as appointed by the Director. Committees could include but are not limited to Subcommittee for Enterprise Applications and Solutions (SEAS), Ad-Hoc working groups, Data Governance, etc.9. Responds to and/or supervises timely completion of ad-hoc requests for institutional data.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Assessment-oriented):1. Facilitates and/or supervises the ongoing Annual Report/Program Review assessment process for both academic and administrative programs.2. Works with the Director and others to centralize the reporting of assessment of student learning and storage of such data across all colleges, schools, and programs.3. Conducts and facilitates educational training on proper data coding, interpreting data reports, and assessment seminars and workshops as assigned by the Director.4. Manages and regularly creates automatically updating Informer reports and Dashboards which are appropriately disseminated to streamline reporting of routine data requests. Actively analyzes the Task Grid-internal workflow process-data to identify new trends in data requests and proactively creates additional Dashboards to automate reporting. Works closely with the Director to identify new technology and trends in Institutional Research to integrate into the office webpage.5. Coordinates or supervises the collection of student and employee surveys (BCSSE, NSSE, Great Colleges, etc.), integrates additional data, analyzes the combined data, and creates effective verbal and written presentations to convey the overall results and next steps.6. Works closely with the Director to identify additional areas for continuous improvement within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job.Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. Coursework in statistics, math, computer science, computer programming, or a related discipline is required.Experience: Must have a robust working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. Experience with Colleague, Informer, or similar academic databases and reporting tools is required. Knowledge of relational databases/SQL is required. Experience with determining and calculating common academic concepts (e.g., retention, 150% graduation, etc.) is required. Knowledge of current assessment practices in higher education and federal reports (e.g., IPEDs) is required.Skills: Must have strong analytical and statistical skills to be able to accurately aggregate data from multiple sources and report results in a comprehensible format accessible to end users without strong analytical knowledge. Must have demonstrated examples of previously completed reports displaying excellent written communication and data-presentation skills. Must have demonstrated examples of prior adaptation to new technological and/or methodological processes. Must possess high organizational skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and must have hyper-attention to detail and accuracy while working within a designated time frame in a busy academic office.University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of other statistical packages, such as SPSS, R, or similar software is preferred but not required.
