Position : Control Engineers / V&V Engineer / Validation Engineer / Embedded Test EngineerLocation : Erie, PA (6 Positions) / Fort worth, TX (6 Positions)Duration : 1 YearRole Summary: This position will be part of the Controls Simulation and Independent Test Team. The purpose of the role will be to work with the team to design and develop hardware in the loop simulators for Controls Software Validation. The Simulation Team is a multi-disciplinary engineering team that develops unique test platforms for the Controls and Software Team. Our world class Sim Lab integrates locomotive control hardware with custom designed plant models for a robust validation environment Essential Responsibilities: Review and decompose system/subsystem level design/test requirements for assigned projects .Develop test platform design strategy based on the identified requirements.Work with HITL sim team engineers and technicians to implement the solution, including simulator hardware design, procurement and build, software infrastructure development and plant model development. Lead the team through all aspects of the project.Work with users to develop optimum test approach, improve efficiency and train users in operation of the simulator.Be responsible for any issues that arise, including investigating and resolving any assigned defects.Own all required documentation for the design folders including schematics, formulation manuals, design documents, i-o cross reference as well as training and troubleshooting guides.Provide estimates of platform development duration as an input to planning processes.Participate in design reviews with the Independent Test Team, as required, for test plans & procedures, as well as for results reviews.Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.Drive process improvement within the team to improve quality, cost, and time-to-market for development efforts.Promote technical and professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling.Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.Participate in simplification initiatives to drive efficiency improvements such as automation of testing.Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or a BS in Physics or Mathematics.A minimum of 2 years experience in Engineering design and development environment.A minimum of one year experience with Mathworks MatLab/Simulink.Desired Characteristics: Strong understanding of test execution, requirements traceability, defect reporting, & automation concepts .Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence stakeholders, solve problems, and deliver resultsEffective verbal & written communicator.Proven expertise with Matlab / Simulink, including model migration to newer versions, configuration management and design best practices.Experience with software development & validation, preferably C++.Experience with design & validation of electro-mechanical systems, especially locomotive and/or off-highway vehicles and auxiliary systems.Working knowledge of GE Transportation locomotives & control system hardware, applications & software.Ability to multi-task & prioritize effectively.Team player with ability to work with minimal direction.Strong organizational skills and prior success in working with or leading cross-functional teams.
