Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in environmentally
responsible waste management across the U.S. Northeast region, is
looking for a qualified Landfill Engineer to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you will be pivotal in designing, overseeing, and
managing the everyday operations and maintenance of our landfill
sites, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local
regulations while promoting sustainability and community safety.
Design and develop landfill projects, including cap design,
stormwater management, gas management systems, and leachate
management systems. Plan, supervise, and coordinate daily
operations at landfill sites to ensure operational efficiency and
regulatory compliance. Lead the effort in continuous improvements
for minimizing waste, environmental impact, and optimizing landfill
lifespan. Oversee the preparation and submission of required
environmental compliance reports and maintain accurate records of
landfill operations. Collaborate with environmental scientists,
planners, hazardous waste technicians, engineers, and other
specialists to address environmental or sanitation issues. Provide
technical guidance and training to staff on landfill operations,
ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed. Manage
budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and process optimization to
maximize the profitability of project initiatives. Solid analytical
and problem-solving skills applicable in environmental engineering
Strong proficiency in engineering software and GIS tools Excellent
communication, management, and supervision skills Knowledge of
federal, state, and local environmental regulations and compliance
Ability to manage complex projects and multiple tasks with
attention to detail Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance 401k Professional Engineer (PE) license
preferred. Certification in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
certification.
