*** Contract position for 6+ months; contract can be extended; contract to hire is possible.

*** The job is on-site with a HYBRID ( 3d office / 2d home ) work schedule. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate within commuting distance of [ Pittsburgh PA, Cleveland OH ( Strongsville ), Dallas TX ( Farmers Branch ), Phoenix AZ, Birmingham AL ]


Kubernetes Containerization Engineer :

- Design, develop, and maintain container images within Kubernetes for a hosting platform
- Collaborate with architects to build out the Big Data Next Gen Containerization platform
- Create proof of concept implementations and build new images for various services
- Develop fully containerized solutions to replace components in the existing monolithic platform
- Implement and optimize Hadoop infrastructure components in containerized environments
- Automate image creation and deployment through CI/CD pipelines
- Containerize Big Data services including Spark, Trino, and Iceberg
- Develop container migration strategies for existing services
- Document containerization processes and best practices



Required Qualifications (Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications) :

- Minimum 8+ years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering - no recent college graduates ( at least 4+ years of full time experience in USA )
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, particularly in container image creation and management
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline implementation and management
- Experience with Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Trino, and Iceberg
- Ability to design and implement containerization strategies for complex distributed systems
- Experience migrating monolithic applications to containerized microservices
- Familiarity with container orchestration and deployment patterns in production environments
- Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting containerized applications
