You will be responsible for developing and executing the R&D vision and strategy aligned with Honeywell's business goals. This role requires a deep understanding of R&D processes, strong technical expertise, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and scientists.You will report directly to our R&D Director and work out of our Buffalo, NY location on a hybrid schedule.This position offers the opportunity to impact the world by driving innovation, managing technology development, and delivering projects that address critical energy and sustainability challenges.Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical thought leader, influencing internal roadmaps and external collaborations in battery materials development, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align R&D efforts with overall strategic plans, generating reports on achievements, challenges, and future initiatives.
• Lead the development and optimization of advanced battery materials focusing on scalability and commercial viability.
• Oversee the R&D project portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment and early-stage innovation to meet industry needs and market trends.
• Work cross-functionally to accelerate time-to-market for new technologies.
• Stay ahead of emerging trends in battery chemistry and manufacturing, providing insights into competitive landscapes and regulatory environments.

• B.S. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of battery R&D experience in energy or sustainability sectors.
• Proven track record in developing and commercializing battery materials, with products successfully scaled and adopted.
• Industry network including EV OEMs, battery manufacturers, and material suppliers.
• Expertise in electrochemical characterization, failure analysis, and materials discovery.
• Strong leadership skills managing cross-functional teams and external collaborations.
• Ability to translate scientific insights into business impacts aligned with commercial strategies.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and executive audiences.Valued Skills and Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, or related.
  • Understanding of energy storage materials synthesis and scale-up processes.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in battery materials design and optimization.
  • Ability to drive technology commercialization.
