  • Lead and support standards and regulation compliance activities for assigned MSA products
  • Participate as a team member in new product development activities and be responsible for ensuring product designs meet global standards and/or regulatory requirements
  • Provide standards and regulatory input for product specification and scoping, as well as advise on optimization of test plans to address requirements from a wide range of compliance requirements
  • Troubleshoot and make recommendations on product design, technical explanations, and/or standards interpretation where needed throughout the product development and certification processes
  • Prepare and submit technical data packages with third parties, such as NRTL's. Manage relationships with external parties such as notified bodies, testing laboratories and government agencies
  • Collaborate with global peers to ensure smooth certification plan execution for international approvals
  • Assist in maintaining certifications by ensuring product modifications are compliant and approved.
  • Train associates on compliance requirements and raise the overall compliance knowledge of the organization
  • Participate in standards development activities with a mission to ensure the safety of our customers
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement in processes and tools related to product compliance and certification management, including development of best practices, templates, and reports
  • Provide support to all certification and department related activities, which may include but is not limited to agency audits, production line requirements, and customer service.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
    • Proven ability to problem solve
    • Demonstrated technical leadership
    • Ability to be proactive, able to take initiate
    • Excellent communicator
    • Demonstrated documentation skills and attention to detail Education and Experience Required:
      • BSEE or relevant discipline, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
      • This position is available at multiple career levels, depending on education and experience:
          • Level 1: 3 years of relevant experience minimum
          • Level 2: 5 years of relevant experience minimum
          • Level 3: 7 years of relevant experience minimum
          • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience.
          • Experience in obtaining certifications in more than one of the following areas: electrical safety, hazardous location, combustible & toxic gas detection performance, flame & smoke detection performance, electro-magnetic compatibility Experience Preferred:
            • Education in multiple engineering or technical disciplines .
            • Experience in certifying refrigerant leak detectors. Familiarity with ASHRAE 15, EN 14624, EN 378, ISO 5149, EN 50270, EN 50271, EN 61000, and/or EN 61010-1
            • Experience in certifying product compliant with functional safety requirements
