Job Description Job Description The Manager of Philanthropic
Research and Writing maintains and strengthens a methodical system
for identifying high wealth individuals, foundations, and
corporations, and creating portfolios for the Development Team.
Additionally, the Manager is responsible for generating persuasive
funding proposals for individuals, trustees, and donors at the
highest levels; drafting acknowledgements for the President and
Director, Board Chair, and Chief Philanthropy Officer; and writing
articles for Cleveland Art magazine. This position serves as a
liaison to key programmatic and executive staff. This position is
responsible for having expertise in the Museum’s programmatic
material. Requirements and Key Competencies Bachelor’s degree
(B.A.) from four-year college or university, and at least three
years of experience working in Advancement or comparable field or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective and
accurate verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
Ability to write compelling proposals, correspondence, and
articles, as well as speak effectively with donors. Experience
working with non-profit leadership boards and executive teams.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff across departments.
Creative problem-solving skills. Experience with research in an
academic or non-profit setting. Experience using databases to track
and analyze information and proficiency in Microsoft systems
including Excel. Experience with Tessitura, or a similar database,
and tools such as Zoom, Teams, and comparable platforms. Ability to
manage projects from creation to completion, prioritize and work on
multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Ability to manage confidential
information. Ability to work select evenings for Philanthropy
events. Responsibilities Maintains and strengthens a methodical

and donors at the highest levels. Drafts acknowledgements for the
President and Director, Board Chair, and Chief Philanthropy
Officer. Writes articles for Cleveland Art magazine and other
publications and events. Uses available data and commercial wealth
funding indexes to discover connections among prospects.
Establishes a capacity to quickly prepare mini profiles of wealthy
individuals for use by the Development Team and key executives.
Utilizes public records and internet techniques to identify new
funding opportunities. For consideration, please submit the
