Job Description:
SUMMARY: Randomly audit inspections that are routinely performed
by an operator in compliance with procedures and work instructions.
Plan and perform various operations necessary to measure part
characteristics of manufactured product. Check part and material
conformance based on drawing and/or specification requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:
Inspect first piece generated from new dies, patterns, jigs and
fixtures to insure satisfactory performance of such tooling.
Inspect patterns, and dies for conformance to dimensional
requirements. Use inspection, measuring and test equipment such as
micrometers, height gages, vernier/dial calipers, gage blocks,
optical comparator, coordinate measuring machines, etc. Layout work
on surface plate as necessary. Provide back-up coverage to the
Metals Testing Labaoratory as necessary. Periodically check parts
from machines to ensure uniformity. Check finish, fits, alignments
and other features. Visually inspect product for obvious defects.
Inspect purchased parts and materials. Participate in the
investigation of customer complaints. Perform special process
audits on processes such as heat-treating, plating, welding,
brazing, etc. Make hardness and conductivity and resistivity tests
of metals. Prepare inspection and discrepant materials reports and
maintain quality records. Suggest production shutdown to
appropriate foreman as necessary. Use statistical sampling
techniques. Collect product and/or process data as necessary.
Knowledge of computer operation and related software required.
Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job

EXPERIENCE: One year or equivalent from two-year college or
technical school; or two to 3 years related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MATHEMATICAL and/or COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures
and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and
circumference. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and
geometry. Knowledge of computer operation and related software
required. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense
understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several
concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES,
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Operate fork lift truck (will be licensed
in accordance with OSHA power industrial truck operator
requirements (beneficial). ASQ- Certified Mechanical Inspector(ASQ=
American Society for Quality) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required
to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and
arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The
employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and
occasionally lift and/or move greater than 100 pounds with the use
of jib cranes or other lifting devices. Specific vision abilities
required by this job includes close vision, depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus. Quality Assurance Auditors are required to
move/lift product to perform the necessary inspections. WORK
ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here

employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Detect quantity discrepancies,
defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties
and report to proper supervision. Will complete data transactions
where necessary. Perform changing lubrication, cleaning and
maintenance of equipment when necessary. Will maintain a clean and
orderly work area at all times. A working knowledge of all
job-related Quality Management System operating procedures and work
instructions is required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Quality
Assurance Auditor position requires better than average
communication skills. Must have the ability to:Read production
drawingsInterpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
(GD&T)Perform required nondestructive testing
