Job Description:
Jamestown Container, One of the largest independent
manufacturers of corrugated products and distributor of packaging
supplies in the northeastern United States, is looking to add a
Corporate Controller/Assistant CFO to its team. -This position will
be located in our Falconer, NY facility. -Founded in 1956,
Jamestown Container Companies is a privately owned company that has
earned a reputation as an innovative, independent provider of high
quality corrugated products, consumer point of purchase displays,
packaging supplies and fulfillment services for customers in New
York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and southern Ontario. -Our customers
include many well-known local companies, as well as Fortune 100
companies. -This position will work alongside the CFO for Jamestown
Container Companies managing the company's finances while being a
strategic leader. -This will be a great opportunity to grow into
the CFO role for a growing company. - -Position
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret financial information pertaining to the
company's performance. Make recommendations concerning business
policy, resource allocations, and business operations to improve
financial performance. Keep key executives and managers informed of
trends in the financial performance that may require management
action.
- Maintain the company's accounting books and records for
multiple plants.
- Maintain an adequate and effective system of internal controls
to safeguard company assets and to maintain the accuracy and
integrity of the company's financial records.
- Prepare and issue financial operational reports to company
management of the type and frequency as specified in the Standard
Operating Procedures.
- Prepare and issue monthly financial statements in accordance
with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Develop and implement goals, policies, priorities, and
procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting,
and/or payroll.
- Assemble and issue an annual budget prepared in accordance with
the company's strategic business plan objectives.
- Measure monthly results compared to monthly budget amounts.
Based on input from company management, investigate and summarize
significant variances.
- Research financing alternatives and determine most advantageous
financing methods.
- Review and approve all major expenditures as required by the
company's Standard Operating Procedures.
- Evaluate acquisition and new business opportunities and develop
recommendations.
- Establish and maintain accurate inventory cost records.
- Prepare periodic forecasts of the company's operating results
and financial position.
- Assist in the review and update of the strategic business
plan.
- Establish and maintain the company's banking, treasury, and
borrowing policies and procedures.
- Maintain an inventory control system to ensure the reliability
and accuracy of inventory owned by the company. Conduct an annual
physical inventory of all company inventories wherever
located.
- Assist with the year-end financial statement review/audit
performed by the company's certified public accountants where
required.
- Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable,
revenue, depreciation, cost, property, operating expense, and
insurance records.
- Prepare and issue financial operational reports to company
management of the type and frequency as specified in the Standard
Operating Procedures.
- Prepare and issue monthly financial statements in accordance
with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Participate in assembling and issuing an annual budget prepared
in accordance with the company's strategic business plan
objectives.
- Establish and maintain accurate inventory cost records.
- Assist in the preparation of periodic forecasts of the
company's operating results and financial position.
- Maintain an inventory control system to ensure the reliability
and accuracy of inventory owned by the company.
- Serve as the company's primary contact for outside financial
and legal assistance. Act as liaison with corporate attorney, CPA
firm, bank(s), and investment firms. -EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
-Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or a related field; 10 or more
years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. -Jamestown Container
